Laura Solinger has dedicated herself exclusively to the practice of criminal defense since her graduation from Northeastern University School of Law and admission to the Bar in 1991.   In 2010, after learning that a client of hers was badly beaten by corrections officers in jail, she also began doing §1983 Civil Rights Claims.

Ms. Solinger is a tenacious negotiator and a tough courtroom lawyer. However, she also listens carefully to her clients, and responds to the very particular needs of each individual case.  She has represented thousands of people accused of crimes, and conducted  numerous misdemeanor  and  felony trials in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Suffolk Counties, often to verdicts of Not Guilty.

In August of 2011, after over a decade-long fight in both State and Federal court, Ms. Solinger succeeded in getting a prisoner’s sentence reduced from 60 years-to-life to 20 years-to-life. In December of 2011, after having served 23 years behind bars, that client walked out of prison.

Ms. Solinger is a member of the New York State Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the New York State Defenders Association.  She has served for several years as a judge at the attorney-training program at Hofstra Univeristy, and has also acted as a mentor to young attorneys.  She is admitted to practice in all New York State Courts, the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit and the United States Supreme Court.
